Super Random Post!

Where to begin?

Spencer's super talented cousin Lindsay took some fantastic pictures of Tallie this past week! Here are a few of the beauties she did...

Here are my two pumpkins!

(Lindsay took this picture as well)

Lance and I made sugar cookies the week Tallie was born. I think this picture is so cute!

Gearing up for Halloween! Speen took the little Lion to our neighborhood Halloween party tonight.

Our neighbor gave Tallie this adorable outfit. I mean how cute is this? A little fleece vest and all!

I promise she's a girl! Gotta love all the blue though... I just need to invest in some blue bows and we are good to go.

Ok - Time for some random thoughts...

Spence went to work on Monday morning and didn't go to sleep until 11:30 pm on Tuesday night. They were working on a crazy project for a client at work. Here is Spence trying to get to sleep, but his phone kept ringing off the hook!

So, with Spence working such crazy hours, my first random thought is that I have a LOT of respect to the amazing woman who have husbands who are in medical school or who are doctors. It was hard for me to have him gone so much, and it was only for like a week. I am sure the new baby contributed to the fact that it was hard, but really I don't think I could handle long crazy hours like that every week. So, props to those spouses!

Secondly, I got my bill this week for my epidural. It was $837 plus $203 for the 'epidural tray.' This is before my insurance kicks in, however, it made me think, dang - maybe I should have pushed through the pain for 45 minutes and saved myself $1,000! I mean, really - I did dilate to a 7 with no pain, it probably wouldn't have been that hard. Oh well, I know for next time!

I have no idea how people have more than one kid living away from their families. I know it has only been two weeks, but wow, I have no idea what I would do with out my amazing parents and all of their help. My mom has had Lance sleep over at her house at least 1-2 times a week, so I could catch up on sleep and they both have just been more incredible than I could even imagine. I am super lucky to have such awesome parents.

I got my hair highlighted and cut today. It had been 10 months! I know - that is some sort of world record for me. I was so proud of the fact that I went so long, that I almost canceled and considered going back to my natural color. In the end, my vain-ness won out, and I got it done. But, I love it, so I am happy.

And finally TaLlIe!

I took her into the doctor today for her two week appointment. It was a hard week. First off, last Monday I accidentally ripped off her ambilical chord - yes, she was only 5 days old. I felt awful. It started bleeding. Luckily, it did not get infected and when he checked it today, he said it looked great, phew!

Secondly, every time we lay her down she makes these gasping/gagging/gulping sounds. It was so stressful. We found out she does have acid reflux, and we just have to make sure we prop her up until she gets over it. Definitely doable!

And now the good news, she is growing great. In the last 10 days, she has gained 12 oz (thanks to my milk factory!) so she is now 6 lbs 9 oz, and 20 inches long! Yeah, she has grown 1.5 inches since birth... NOT! I am sure they measured her wrong when she was born, but YAY that she is doing great.

Ok, and that's a wrap!!!

Loved all the updates! First I love the pumpkin picture of Tallie...to die for! Second, did Spence not get time off for maternity? Third, I am glad you figured out the acid reflux...did they put her on Zantac or Previcid?

What cute pics! I love the one of little Lance with the apron on and the cookie beater! What a cute boy. I totally feel you on the doctor's wife thing. In our ward in OH there were tons of residence and their wives went without their husbands all the time! The husbands were only at church like half the time because they were on call and I was always so amazed that they could hold it together. Seriously most of them had 4 or 5 kids too! That is so sad about Tallie's umbilical cord! Poor girl. Glad she is doing great now. Beckett has reflux pretty bad and it is so sad. It totally sounds like they're drowning at first. Is she on medicine?

Katie! I am dying to see little miss Tallie and to tend Lance. I am over my sickness now. Can we PLEASE have a lunch date? I miss you like crazy! What a beautiful family you have, Kates. You are an example to me, and for that, I am thankful.

So glad to see you guys are doing well! After having had #1 near family--#2 was so hard--so I agree--need to be near family is at the top of my list. And I think you should definitely look into no epidural next time--after two deliveries w/out--I can tell you that it is so worth the $1000 savings! :D And recovery is SO great!

your Tallie and Lance look so much alike, they are so cute. You by the way look amazingly skinny already. You have incredible genes. I love this post and the idea of saving $1000, I don't think I've ever thought of that!

I'm excited to see you guys for the christmas party!

Hey Katie, What a week. Glad things are going well. Good luck with that acid reflux, spencer had it and it was a little rough, but definitly doable especially with medicine if it gets bad. Medicine made a big difference for spencer but I didn't discover it till 10 weeks. Give me a call if you have questions.

My dad did another ultra sound for me when I was home, and we are still thinking its a girl. So yay! These two will be in the same grade as well :) .

We will give you guys a call soon, we are still waiting to here from interviews, 2 said no, so we have 1 in SLC and 1 in Sac to still wait for. Wish us luck

So I had Gray sleep in his carseat for the first four months of his life because of his gassy belly. He slept so much better because the acid in his belly stayed down. My doctor told me just to make sure he was out before six months. Anyway, good luck with that. You are doing awesome.
And those pictures of Tallie are beautiful. I love the coloring and the clarity. She did great.
