Owie Lip!

So, every Thursday I take Lance to story time at the library. He LOVES it. Today it turned into "bloody time" at the library. Well, maybe that was somewhat appropriate seeing that it is the beginning of October, so maybe Lance was just trying to bring in the Halloween spirit or something...

He has started taking a few steps here and there, so in the middle of story time, he was walking to the little stage the lady sits on, and tripped and BANG smacked his lip right on the stage, hard. So, I pick him up just thinking once he stops crying we can go back in, but as I am walking out, there is blood everywhere. Poor guy - I guess you bleed quite a bit if you cut something on your face. Well, he filled up three wet wipes full of blood, but luckily he made out with only a swollen lip and a rug burn on his chin. I mean I know little kids will fall down and get bumps and cuts and bruises, but the first time, it kinda scared me.

Let's be honest - I have wanted my baby to walk for months. So after I realized he was fine, my first thought was "crap, now he'll never want to walk!" Luckily, after 10 minutes or so, he was right back to himself walking all over the benches and walls, so cheers to his one second rebound rate!

Maybe I am being a little dramatic posting about it, but as this blog is a journal of sorts, I thought I would document his first little owie!

Ouch, poor guy!

I put on some Einstein so he could take it easy.

Later on, Speen took Lance swimming.

Wow, I love those eyes!

Oh and Lance tried Salmon for the first time tonight, and can I say that he LOVED it. He was shoveling it in by the handfuls. It was awesome.

Ready for night night in his new Halloween PJ's from JoJo!

Those lip lacerations can be bloody! Just glad he missed those teeth. It's really sad when my kids fall down on their face I don't ask how they're doing until after I've looked at their teeth. Melissa gets so mad at me.
Just today a 6 y/o came in today b/c he cut a corner and ran straight into a wall. He lost three teeth and there were paint chips embedded in his gums. Wow - Kids are CRAZY!
You guys look like you're having a lot of fun.
Thanks for keeping us posted
Rob

Poor Lance! Unfortunately that will not be the last time he will get hurt from walking. Aaron has so many bumps and bruises from falling down. It happens at least three times a day. There has been a little blood but not that much, but there has been a fat lip or two.
Way to go Lance on the walking though.

I don't think that Ella has ever taken a spill like that before. Poor guy...or, poor Katie.

It is so sad when your baby gets his first real owie. Just know that you are in for alot more, especially when they can run. :) I love the Halloween jammies, so cute!

Poor kid... Hey I think it is great that this is his first injury. When Elia was too little to even sit up I would take her in the shower with me and she would lie on the floor and squirm happily in the water drops.... until a bottle of shampoo fell down and gave her a shiner... Yep, I gave my kid a shiner when she was probably 4 or 5 months! He does have beautiful eyes!

Hey I saw your blog on Abbie's. I am glad Lance is okay...I would not say you were freaking out at all...very calm and collected :)
I think we are going to start going to storytime more often. It seemed fun...I didn't realize it was only 20 minutes long though...I guess that means I shouldn't leave my house 10 minutes after it has already started :)

Katie I would freak out at first too. I would be so scared and then I would relax a bit. Lance is so cute in all his outfits and his eyes. You are so cute too.
